LG launches the Optimus LTE Tag

LG has announced its newest addition to its LTE smartphone line-up for the Korean market - the Optimus LTE Tag.
It features a 4.3-inch IPS display with a pixel resolution of 800 x 480. The phone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (with the option to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later). The Optimus LTE Tag is available in white.
The Optimus LTE Tag gets its name from a new feature, LG Tag+, which uses NFC (Near Field Communication) to communicate with special stickers or "tags" that can be programmed to automatically change the phone's settings. It sports a 5 megapixel rear camera with Auto focus-LED Flash and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. The phone has a 1,700mAh battery.

"Swiping a tag upon entering the office could put the Optimus LTE Tag in silent mode and activate Wi-Fi. A tag on the car dashboard could be programmed to turn on Bluetooth, GPS and raise the volume. The options are limitless," said the company in a release.

South Korea is going to be getting this device first in March and at the moment there's no indication when it will hit other markets. However it's safe to assume LG is going to release this elsewhere eventually and it does have plans to show off the device at the MWC next month.
